The Former Kinoshita Residence, known as "Sakaiya," offers a glimpse into the prosperous past of a sake brewing family from the Edo period. Completed in 1908, the detached drawing room showcases luxurious craftsmanship, including Yakusugi cedar panels and rosewood flooring. Once used for entertaining VIP guests, this designated cultural property of Yame City is now open to the public for free. Visitors can explore the traditional architecture and serene garden, complete with a soothing water harp (suikinkutsu). Located at 184 Honmachi, Yame City, it's a 10-minute walk from the Fukushima bus stop (accessible from Nishitetsu Kurume or JR Haneinuizuka stations) or a 10-minute drive from the Yame IC.
