Sugimoto Shrine, known locally as "Ino Okuni-sama," is a historic shrine with over 1200 years of history. While the shrine itself is small and serene, it comes alive during the spring and autumn festivals, drawing many worshippers. The shrine is home to an Important Cultural Property, an octagonal lacquered portable shrine from the Kamakura period, and the grounds are also known as a habitat for the rare Mikado swallowtail butterfly. Visitors can also find a spring with potable water. It is a peaceful place to experience a bit of local history and nature.
