The Tatsuko Statue, a bronze maiden erected in 1968, stands gracefully on the western shore of Lake Tazawa in Akita Prefecture. This golden statue, created by Tokyo University of the Arts professor Yasutake Funakoshi, embodies the legendary maiden Tatsuko, who is said to have transformed into a dragon. Visitors can easily access the statue via a 35-minute bus ride from Tazawako Station, alighting at the Katashiri stop. The statue is located near the Ukigi Shrine, offering a chance to explore both attractions. The contrast of the golden statue against the blue lake and, in winter, the white snow, makes for a picturesque scene. Be aware that parking is limited to nearby souvenir shops or a public restroom 300 meters away.
