Hojima Island, part of the Urato Islands in Matsushima Bay, is a small, picturesque island steeped in local legend. Accessible by a 52-minute ferry ride from Marine Gate Shiogama, it's known for its natural beauty, especially the fields of canola flowers that bloom in spring. The island also features a Shinto shrine and small beaches, making it a charming destination for a short visit. Note that there are limited facilities on the island, so it's best to bring your own refreshments. The best time to see the canola flowers is around Golden Week (late April to early May).
