Lake Miboro is a stunning reservoir created by Japan's first large rock-fill dam. Located in Gifu Prefecture, near Shirakawa-go, the lake offers picturesque views and a tranquil atmosphere. A highlight is the transplanted Showa-zakura cherry tree, a 450-year-old tree saved from submersion during the dam's construction. Visitors can explore the MIBORO Dam Side Park, which includes the Miboro Electric Power Museum and the Showa-zakura Memorial Museum. The best time to visit is during the autumn foliage season for vibrant colors. The lake is easily accessible by car, about 30 minutes from the Sho River IC on the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway.
