Takekoma Shrine, one of Japan's Three Great Inari Shrines, was founded in 842 and is dedicated to the gods of clothing, food, and housing. Welcoming 1.6 million visitors annually, the shrine features the impressive two-story Zuijin Gate and the ornate Mukai-Karamon Gate from the Edo period. The shrine is easily accessible, a 20-minute walk from Iwanuma Station on the Tohoku and Joban lines, or a 10-minute drive from the Iwanuma IC on the Sendai Tobu Road. Don't miss the Hatsuma Taisai festival, held for seven days from the first Day of the Horse in the old lunar calendar's February, which draws large crowds. The shrine offers barrier-free access with wheelchair rentals and provides blessings for industrial development, abundant harvests, business prosperity, maritime safety, safe childbirth, protection from evil, and general good fortune. Parking is available for 17 large vehicles and 150 regular cars.
