Shobu Highlands, located in the Oshima district of Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, offers a refreshing escape with its Nordic-inspired atmosphere. Situated at an elevation of 700 meters, the highlands provide a cool retreat even in summer. Visitors can enjoy amenities such as a forest camping ground, cottages, an outdoor stage, and a beautiful iris garden. Access is via bus from Hokuhoku Line's Oshima Station, followed by a 60-minute walk. The highlands are particularly known for the Bell House, a symbol of the area, where visitors can dine and relax. Note that road access via Nonouchi Forest Road may be closed, so it's best to use Route 405 to Shobu and then Prefecture Road 348 to Shobu Highlands.
