Engetsu Island, or "Full Moon Island," is a symbol of Nanki-Shirahama. Officially named Takashima, it's known for the distinctive circular hole eroded through its center. This picturesque spot is especially famous for its stunning sunsets, drawing photographers and nature lovers alike. The best views are from along Wakayama Prefectural Route 34. Sunset times vary, occurring around 6:30 PM in summer and 4:30 PM in winter. Easily accessible by bus from Shirahama Station or by car from Nanki-Shirahama IC, it's a must-see for any visitor to the area.
