Honrenji Temple

Overview

Honrenji Temple, dating back to 1492, offers a serene escape with historical significance. Once a lodging for Korean envoys during the Edo period, the temple features three nationally designated Important Cultural Properties, including its main hall and a striking three-story pagoda. Perched on a hill in Ushimado, the temple provides stunning views of the Seto Inland Sea. Don't miss the guest hall with its single-plank Zelkova floor. The temple is a 25-minute train ride from Okayama Station to Oku Station, followed by a 20-minute bus ride and a 5-minute walk. Guest hall visits require advance booking.
