The Otsuka Tumulus is a decorated kofun (tumulus) dating back to the mid-6th century, renowned for its vibrant murals inside the stone chamber. Designated as a Special National Historic Site, the tomb's colorful paintings using five colors (yellow, red, blue, white, and black) are invaluable in art history. Located a 5-minute walk from Kaho-Katsukawa Station, the tumulus is only open to the public twice a year in April and October to preserve the wall paintings. Visitors can explore the Otsuka Tumulus Decoration Museum next door to see a replica of the stone chamber and learn about the tomb's historical significance.
