The Ohmuta Great Snake Mountain Festival, held in late July, is a vibrant summer tradition in Ohmuta City. Enormous, elaborately decorated snake floats parade through the streets, accompanied by music, dancing, and fireworks that make it appear as if the snakes are breathing fire. A highlight is the "kamase" ritual, where children are held near the snake's mouth to ensure good health for the coming year. The festival takes place primarily on Taisho-machi street, a short walk from JR Ohmuta Station and Nishitetsu Omuta Station. Don't miss the dynamic performances and the chance to experience this unique cultural event.
