Lake Ontake is a man-made lake created as a water source for the Aichi Canal. It's located in Otaki Village, Kiso District, Nagano Prefecture. The lake reflects the majestic Mount Ontake when full, offering scenic views, especially during the fresh greenery season (mid-May to early June) and the autumn foliage (late October to mid-November). The park at the Makio Dam embankment features cherry blossoms in full bloom from late April to early May. It is accessible by car from Ina IC (60 minutes) or Nakatsugawa IC (90 minutes), or by bus from Kiso Fukushima Station on the JR Chuo Main Line (30 minutes).
