Mount Kurofu, also known as Mount Kurofuyama, is a 2,404-meter peak located on the border of Tsumagoi Village in Gunma Prefecture and Komoro City in Nagano Prefecture. As one of the outer rim mountains of Mount Asama, it offers stunning panoramic views, especially of the active volcano. The most common route starts from the Kurumazaka Pass, making it accessible for families and beginner hikers. The trail is well-maintained, and the views from the summit and along the way, particularly from Torimi's Head, are exceptional, showcasing the Northern Alps, Mount Fuji, and Mount Asama. It's an ideal destination for a day hike with rewarding scenery.
