Located in Izumo, Shimane Prefecture, Hinomisaki Shrine is an ancient shrine also mentioned in the "Izumo no Kuni Fudoki." The shrine, consisting of the Upper and Lower Shrines, features vermilion-lacquered buildings in the Gongen-zukuri style, adorned with exquisite polychrome decorative paintings inside. Dedicated to safeguarding Japan's nights, with the Lower Shrine (Hishizumi no Miya) enshrining Amaterasu Omikami and the Upper Shrine (Kami no Miya) enshrining Susanoo-no-Mikoto. Constructed by order of Tokugawa Iemitsu, it showcases Momoyama-style architecture. Visitors can access the shrine by bus from JR Izumo City Station or Izumo Taisha, or by car from the Sanindo Izumo IC. The shrine is designated as a National Important Cultural Property, including all the shrine buildings and stone structures within the grounds. Best time to visit is all day, offering a serene atmosphere perfect for exploring the cultural and historical significance.
