Sabusawajima Island, located in the Matsushima Bay area, is accessible via a 44-minute ferry ride from Marine Gate Shiogama. This tranquil island offers a variety of activities, including jig-net fishing, hiking, and exploring historical sites. Key attractions include the Hiyoriyama Observatory with its zodiac stones, the sandy Amae Beach, and numerous Jizo statues scattered throughout the island. Visitors can enjoy leisurely walks along the island's farm roads and well-marked trails, taking approximately 3 hours to explore. Note that there are limited amenities on the island, so it's recommended to bring your own food and drinks. The Michinoku Coastal Trail, stretching over 1000km, also passes through this island.
