Kirifuri Falls

Overview

Kirifuri Falls, one of Nikko's three famous waterfalls, cascades down 80 meters in two tiers. The name comes from the mist-like spray created as the water hits the rocks. Located in Nikko City, Tochigi Prefecture, it's accessible by bus from Nikko Station. While the falls are viewed from a distance at the observation deck, the surrounding lush greenery offers a scenic experience, especially during the autumn foliage season. Note that the path to the observation point involves some uphill walking. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes. The falls may appear small from the observation deck, so consider bringing a telephoto lens for better photos.
