Matsukawaura is a scenic lagoon in Soma City, Fukushima Prefecture, separated from the Pacific Ocean by a narrow sandbar. It's known for its tranquil waters and the Matsukawaura Bridge, a symbol of the area. The area suffered damage in the 2011 tsunami, but restoration efforts have revitalized the landscape. Visitors can enjoy driving along the coastal road, taking in views of the lagoon, and observing local aquaculture of clams and nori seaweed. Fishing is prohibited from the pier. The best time to visit is on a clear day to fully appreciate the views. The Michinoku Coastal Trail also has a starting/ending point here.
