The Tone Town Historical Folk Museum, located in a serene, rice paddy-surrounded area just north of the Tone River in Ibaraki Prefecture, offers a glimpse into the town's history and folk culture. The museum features exhibits on local artifacts, including Jomon period pottery, Buddhist statues from the Kamakura period, and items excavated from local burial mounds. Highlights include a scaled-down model of a Takase River boat and displays about the Tone River, the artist Ogawa Ussen, and Yanagita Kunio, who considered Tone Town his second home. It's conveniently situated next to the Tone Town Lifelong Learning Center and offers free admission. Note that photography is prohibited inside the museum.
