Shomyo Falls, boasting the highest drop in Japan at 350 meters, is a stunning four-tiered waterfall located in Toyama Prefecture. Designated as a national scenic spot and natural monument, as well as one of Japan's Top 100 Waterfalls, it's accessible via a 15-minute bus ride from Tateyama Station followed by a 30-minute walk from the parking area to the observation deck. During spring snowmelt or after heavy rains, the impressive Hannoki Falls, with a 500-meter drop, appears alongside Shomyo Falls. The best time to visit is during the autumn foliage season for breathtaking views, but be sure to check the weather forecast beforehand.
