Nikko-san Rinno-ji Temple, founded by Shodo Shonin, is the oldest temple in Nikko and a designated World Heritage site. As the head temple of 15 sub-temples, its main hall, Sanbutsudo, is one of the largest wooden structures in Eastern Japan. Inside, you'll find impressive golden statues of the Batō Kannon, Amida Nyorai, and Senju Kannon. Don't miss the Shoyoen Garden, known for its stunning autumn foliage. Located a 7-minute bus ride from Nikko Station (get off at Nishi-sando), the temple is open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (April-October) and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM (November-March).
