Kakurin-ji Temple, also known as "Otsuru-san" by locals, is the 20th temple on the Shikoku Pilgrimage. Situated on Mt. Washigatake, reaching the temple involves navigating narrow mountain roads, a challenge known as "Henro-korogashi" (pilgrim-stumbling). The temple is renowned for its serene atmosphere and unique features, including bronze crane statues instead of guardian dogs in front of the main hall. The temple grounds feature a hexagonal hall, a hall dedicated to children, and a pagoda dating back to the late Edo period. Visitors should allocate ample time to explore the temple complex and appreciate the natural surroundings. A road maintenance fee of ¥300 is collected from those arriving by car.
