The Former Norita Family Residence is a preserved samurai residence located in Kashima, Saga Prefecture, near the sake breweries of Hizen Hama-shuku. This 19th-century house, originally belonging to the Saisho family who served the Kashima Nabeshima clan, features a thatched roof and a traditional 'Kudo-style' design typical of Saga. Visitors can explore the interior, which includes a spacious dirt floor, tatami rooms, and a kitchen with a hearth, offering a glimpse into the life of a rural samurai family who also engaged in agriculture and sericulture. The residence is well-maintained and open to the public for free, making it a worthwhile stop when visiting the sake brewery district. It's easily accessible via a small path next to Iimorishuzo sake brewery.
