Ritsuunkyo is a scenic valley in Asago, Hyogo Prefecture, famous as a prime viewing spot for Takeda Castle, often called the "Castle in the Sky." Three observation decks offer varying perspectives, with the first deck providing the most iconic view, though it requires a 30-40 minute uphill hike. The best time to visit is early morning from autumn to early winter when the castle appears to float on a sea of clouds, conditions permitting. A small environmental maintenance fee is required for entry. Be sure to wear comfortable shoes for the sometimes steep trails.
