The Asahi Gassan Lake Observation Plaza offers stunning panoramic views of Lake Gassan, a man-made lake created by the Gassan Dam. Located along National Route 112, it's an easily accessible rest stop with a spacious parking area. The plaza features the iconic "Goddess of the Moon" statue by sculptor Yutaka Kato, a guardian of the Gassan Dam. While basic amenities like restrooms and vending machines are available, consider a short drive to nearby rest stops for souvenirs and dining. The plaza is particularly beautiful during sunset when the lake reflects the golden light. Note that in winter, the observation deck may be covered in snow.
