Horaisan Toshogu Shrine

Overview

Horaisan Toshogu Shrine, located within the grounds of Horaiji Temple, is associated with the birth of Tokugawa Ieyasu and was constructed by order of Iemitsu. This national designated structure is surrounded by old cedar and cypress trees, creating a cool and serene atmosphere even in summer. Visitors can access the shrine by bus from Hon-Nagashino Station or by car via the Shin-Tomei Expressway. A short walk from the mountain top parking lot leads to the shrine. The shrine offers a peaceful and historical experience, with beautiful foliage in the fall.
