Kofuen is a serene Japanese garden in Sakaide, just a 3-minute walk west from JR Sakaide Station. Once the villa of Katsutaro Kamada, a prominent figure in local business and politics during the Meiji era, it was donated to Sakaide City and opened to the public as a park in 1955. The garden features a harmonious blend of Japanese and Western styles, with a central pond surrounded by a traditional strolling garden and a Western-style lawn. Visitors can explore the Suishokaku and Shiguretei teahouses, and enjoy the meticulously maintained landscape. It's an ideal spot for a peaceful stroll and a glimpse into Meiji-era elegance, easily accessible and free to enter. Best visited during the afternoon to enjoy a relaxing break.
