Lake Toya

Overview

Lake Toya, located in Shikotsu-Toya National Park, is one of Hokkaido's most scenic spots. This caldera lake, the ninth largest in Japan, offers stunning views of Mount Showa-shinzan, Mount Usu, and distant Mount Yotei. Take a boat to Nakajima Island to visit the Lake Toya Forest Museum. The southwestern shore is home to Lake Toya Onsen, a hub for ryokans, hotels, buses, and sightseeing cruises. The picturesque landscape of mountains and lake is considered one of Hokkaido's three great views. Easily accessible by bus from Toya Station, it's a must-see destination any time of year.
