Manyo Village Ajimano Garden is a scenic destination in Echizen, Fukui Prefecture, easily accessible by car from the Takefu IC on the Hokuriku Expressway. This garden allows visitors to immerse themselves in the romance of the Manyo era, with seasonal flowers like hydrangeas, peonies, wisteria, irises and Japanese clover blooming throughout the year. It's known as the setting for the tragic love story of Nakatomi no Yakimori and Sano no Otogami no Otome, featuring 63 poems in the Manyoshu collection, with 15 representative poems engraved on monuments within the garden. The garden was renovated in 2018 as a "lover's power spot." Admission is free, making it an ideal spot for a peaceful stroll and appreciation of nature and classical Japanese literature.
