Visit the Ōkusu of Kawago, a nationally designated natural monument and the 5th largest tree in Japan. Estimated to be over 3,000 years old, this massive camphor tree stands 25 meters tall with a root circumference of 33 meters. Legend says the monk Gyoki carved a statue of Kannon into the tree during the Nara period. Visitors can touch the tree and pray for health and longevity. The park features a watermill, a shop, and is easily accessible from Takeo via Route 498. A unique feature is the Inari shrine nestled in a hollow of the tree.
