Mount Akauto, located on the border of Kaga and Echizen Provinces, offers panoramic views of Mount Haku and the mountains of Okuetsu. The mountain is accessible via the Hatomagayu Course, a 90-minute drive from the Tokai-Hokuriku Expressway's Shiratori Interchange. The trail to the 1,628.7m summit takes approximately 4 hours to ascend and 3 hours to descend. A highlight is the Nikko Daylily colony blooming near the Akachi moorland, a highland wetland. The best time to visit is in late September for pleasant winds and views from Akauto Plain.
