Okayama Korakuen Garden, a nationally designated Place of Scenic Beauty, is one of Japan's three great gardens, along with Kanazawa's Kenrokuen and Mito's Kairakuen. Constructed by feudal lord Ikeda Tsunamasa starting in 1687, it features a circuit-style layout with ponds, hills, and expansive lawns, offering picturesque views, especially of Okayama Castle in the background. Located a 10-minute bus ride from Okayama Station, the garden is open from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM (entry until 5:45 PM from March 20 to September 30) and 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (entry until 4:45 PM from October 1 to March 19). Admission is ¥410 for adults (ages 15-64), with discounts available for seniors and combined tickets with Okayama Castle and other museums. Enjoy a peaceful stroll through meticulously maintained landscapes, with seasonal features like carp streamers and potential light-up events.
