Marugame Castle, also known as Kameyama Castle, is celebrated as one of Japan's premier stone castles, featuring the country's tallest stone walls that rise over 60 meters. Located a 10-minute walk from Marugame Station, the castle offers panoramic views of the Seto Inland Sea and the Seto Ohashi Bridge. The castle's three-story wooden keep, constructed in 1660, is one of only twelve original keeps remaining in Japan. Visitors can explore the castle grounds, admire the intricate stonework, and enjoy the scenic vistas. Note that the path to the keep includes steep slopes. Open to visitors with a small admission fee, it's a must-see for history buffs and sightseers alike.
