Satake Temple, deeply rooted in the history of Hitachiota, served as the prayer temple for the Satake clan that ruled Hitachi Province from the Kamakura to Edo periods. Founded either in 807 or 985, it's known for its main hall, a nationally designated Important Cultural Property featuring a striking thatched roof and architectural elements from the Momoyama period. The temple's main deity, the eleven-faced Kannon, is believed to grant blessings for safe childbirth and protection against evil. As the 22nd temple on the Bando Thirty-Three Kannon Pilgrimage, it attracts a steady stream of visitors. Located in Tenjinbayashi-cho, it is accessible by bus or taxi from Hitachi-Ota Station, or by car from the Naka or Hitachi-Minami-Ota Interchange. Admission is free, making it an accessible historical site to explore.
