Shimonoseki Treaty of Shimonoseki Memorial Hall

Overview

The Shimonoseki Treaty Memorial Hall commemorates the signing of the Treaty of Shimonoseki, which concluded the First Sino-Japanese War in 1895. Located next to the Shunpanro restaurant, where the treaty was signed, the hall features exhibits of furniture and artifacts used during the peace talks. Visitors can see a recreation of the conference room with life-size figures of the key negotiators, including Ito Hirobumi and Li Hongzhang. The hall is near Akama Shrine and is accessible by bus from JR Shimonoseki Station. Admission is free, making it an ideal stop for history enthusiasts exploring Shimonoseki.
