The Kutchan Town Asahigaoka Ski Area is a compact ski area in Kutchan, a heavy snowfall area known for its large resorts like Niseko. It's primarily geared towards gentle slopes, but also features steep, 30-degree runs for expert skiers. A dedicated sledding course makes it family-friendly. Located just 1.1km from JR Kutchan Station (about a 5-minute taxi or 10-minute walk), it's easily accessible. During late May to early June, enjoy the blooming Shiba-sakura moss phlox at the base of the slopes. Note that the ski area operates night skiing on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
