Erin-ji Temple, founded by Musō Soseki, is renowned as the final resting place of Takeda Shingen. This historic temple is infamous for being the site where Oda Nobunaga ordered the massacre of its monks. Visitors can explore the beautifully maintained grounds, including a serene garden designed by Musō Soseki, and view temple treasures in the Hōmotsuden (treasure hall). Don't miss the iconic Sanmon gate, where Kaikai Kokushi famously declared, "If you extinguish the mind's fire, the flames will naturally cool." Erin-ji is easily accessible by bus or car from Enzan Station and offers a tranquil escape into Japanese history and Zen Buddhism. The temple is open from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM daily.
