Laputa Road, also known as the "Road to the Sky," is a scenic spot located along the Milk Road (Kumamoto Prefectural Route 339) in Aso, Kumamoto Prefecture. This iconic road offers breathtaking views reminiscent of the world in Studio Ghibli's "Castle in the Sky." While the road itself may be closed to vehicular traffic due to earthquake damage, visitors can still enjoy panoramic vistas of the surrounding landscape, including patchwork fields and, on clear days, views of Mount Aso. The best time to visit is in the early morning for a chance to witness a sea of clouds. Parking is limited, especially on weekends, so arrive early. Be aware that the path to the viewpoint can be muddy after rain.
