Located near Tsuruoka Park, the Muryokoen Shakado Hall is a beautifully preserved villa that once belonged to the wealthy Kazama family. Built in the Meiji era, this elegant building features exquisite traditional architecture and a serene garden designed for seasonal beauty. Highlights include the meticulously landscaped grounds with diverse flora, offering a peaceful retreat. The hall is registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property. Visit in mid-May to see the white azaleas in full bloom. Admission is ¥400, which includes entry to the nearby Heishindo Hall. Easily accessible by bus from Tsuruoka Station.
