Located within the grounds of Kumano Hayatama Taisha Shrine in Shingu, Wakayama, the Kumano Treasure Hall (Kumano Shinpo-kan) is a museum showcasing over 1,200 cultural artifacts, including National Treasures and Important Cultural Properties. Often called the "Shosoin of the Nanki Region," the hall features items donated by the Imperial family, shoguns, and feudal lords since the Middle Ages. Highlights include the Kumano Cypress Fans adorned with colorful paintings and gold/silver leaf, as well as various costumes and lacquerware boxes. The hall also houses some of Japan's oldest Shinto statues. Open from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with an admission fee of ¥500 for adults, it's a must-see for those interested in Japanese history and art.
