The Kanmon Tunnel is a unique underwater pedestrian tunnel connecting Shimonoseki, Yamaguchi Prefecture, and Kitakyushu, Fukuoka Prefecture. This 780-meter tunnel allows you to walk beneath the Kanmon Strait in about 15 minutes. A highlight is the prefectural border between Yamaguchi and Fukuoka in the tunnel's center, perfect for a memorable photo. Don't forget to collect stamps at both entrances and claim your "Kanmon TOPPA!" certificate at nearby tourist information centers. The tunnel is accessible via elevator, and the Shimonoseki side features the Kanmon Plaza with exhibits on the tunnel's construction.
