Chikara-mizu, or "Power Water," is a natural spring located in Yuzawa City, Akita Prefecture, a 10-minute walk from Yuzawa Station on the JR Ou Main Line. Historically used as the imperial water source for the Satake South family until around 1892, it's now recognized as one of Japan's 100 remarkable waters by the Environmental Agency. Locals and visitors alike come to draw the refreshing, chlorine-free water, believed to impart strength. The spring is easily accessible near the Yuzawa City Hall and features a small parking area, benches, and a gazebo for relaxation. It's a great spot to experience a taste of Akita's natural bounty and learn about the region's history.
