Shojoji Temple, located in Sabae City, Fukui Prefecture, is the head temple of the Shinshu Shojoji sect. It originated when Shinran preached at the residence of Hatano Kageyuki, a local powerful clan. Later, it received protection from Katsuie Shibata and a shuinjo (official seal) from the Edo shogunate, making it a major temple representing Sabae. Key highlights include the Amida Hall, the Founder's Hall, a unique bell tower, and the four-legged gate featuring a "running dragon" sculpture said to protect the gate by spewing water during fires.
