The Site of Tōnan Clan Landing marks the historical location where former Aizu domain members arrived in Shimokita after the Boshin War. In 1870, approximately 1,800 people landed at this site after traveling by sea from Niigata. The monument here is constructed from the same stone as Tsuruga Castle in Aizu-Wakamatsu and faces towards that city, symbolizing the connection between the two regions. Located near the coast, about a 10-minute walk from JR Ōminato Station, it's a place of historical significance, especially for those interested in the history of the Aizu domain. Adjacent to the monument is a scallop center where visitors can observe live scallops in tanks.
