Kitakami City Park Tenshochi, nearing its 100th anniversary, is a renowned cherry blossom viewing spot along the Kitakami River. It's celebrated as one of Tohoku's top cherry blossom locations, featuring approximately 10,000 trees of about 150 varieties, blooming from mid-April to early May. The name "Tenshochi" comes from the panoramic views from Mt. Jin, a small hill within the park. Visitors can enjoy seasonal scenery, including cherry blossoms, azaleas, autumn foliage, and wintering swans. The park also houses attractions like the Michinoku Folk Village and the Sato Hachiro Memorial Museum, making it a hub for Kitakami tourism.
