The Kamaishi Daikannon is a 48.5-meter tall, reinforced concrete statue of Kannon, the Buddhist goddess of mercy, holding a fish. Located in Kamaishi, Iwate Prefecture, it offers stunning views of the surrounding area. Visitors can explore the 13-story interior, which features the Gyokyo Kannon (Fish-Basket Kannon), thirty-three Kannon statues, and a tour of the Seven Lucky Gods. The 12th floor serves as an observation deck. The Daikannon is accessible by a 10-minute bus ride from Kamaishi Station. Admission is ¥500 for adults, with discounts for students and groups.
