The Sakai City Ryusho Museum, formerly the Ryusho Elementary School, was designed by Dutch engineer Escher in 1876. This unique five-story, octagonal wooden building was the only elementary school in Japan designed by a foreigner at the time. Reconstructed as a museum on a hill overlooking Mikuni, it offers panoramic views. Inside, visitors can explore exhibits on local history, culture, and the Kitamae ships. Don't miss the impressive display of festival floats from the Mikuni Festival. Open to visitors, with an admission fee of ¥300 for adults and ¥150 for children, it's a great place to learn about the area's heritage.
