Overview

Katsuragi Shuzo is a sake brewery located along the Katsuragi Road in Gose, Nara Prefecture. Established in a historic post town, the brewery is known for its "Hyakurakumon" sake, brewed using water from Mt. Kongo and locally sourced rice. Visitors can find the brewery by looking for the traditional sugidama (cedar ball) hanging at the eaves. While the brewery may sometimes be closed for sake production, their products can be found at local shops like Higashikawa in Gose. The area around the brewery, including the adjacent Nakamura House (a designated Important Cultural Property), offers a glimpse into traditional Japanese culture. Best time to visit is during the day to explore the area.
