Located next to the Himeyuri Tower in Itoman, Okinawa, the Himeyuri Peace Memorial Museum offers a poignant journey through the experiences of the Himeyuri Student Corps during the Battle of Okinawa. The museum meticulously recreates the pre-war Himeyuri Girls' School facade and chronologically details the events from peaceful school life to the tragic deployment as a nursing unit after the U.S. military landing. Exhibits include personal belongings, photographs, and survivor testimonies, culminating in a room dedicated to the victims, featuring a life-sized replica of a wartime shelter and portraits of the fallen. The museum is accessible by car from Naha Airport (approx. 30 minutes) and is open daily with varying admission fees for children and adults. It provides barrier-free access, including wheelchair-accessible facilities and braille guidance.
