Explore the historic Mitoya Castle (Ozaki Castle) Ruins, founded by Suketomo Suwabe, a local lord of the Kamakura shogunate. The Suwabe clan, descendants of the Seiwa Genji lineage, governed the Mitoya region from this castle. Later adopting the Mitoya name, the clan eventually lost their territory to the Mori clan. Today, visitors can access the site by bus from Kitsu Station (15 minutes) or by car from the Mitoya Kitsu IC (10 minutes). The castle ruins offer scenic views of Mitoya and the Hii River, providing a glimpse into the area's rich samurai history. Don't miss the unique green cherry blossoms (Gyoiko) in the nearby Mitoya Park, especially beautiful in mid-April.
