Yahiko Shrine, revered as Echigo's premier shrine, has a history spanning over 2400 years. Known affectionately as "Oyahiko-sama," it attracts over 200,000 visitors during the New Year. The shrine is dedicated to Amenokagoyama no Mikoto, the great-grandson of Amaterasu Omikami. Located within walking distance from JR Yahiko Station and easily accessible by car, the shrine features a sacred forest, particularly famous for its stunning autumn foliage. Don't miss the chance to test your wishes at the "Fire Ball Stone." For a serene experience, visit early in the morning. Consider visiting the Okumiya, the inner shrine, atop Mount Yahiko via the Yahiko Ropeway or the scenic Yahiko Skyline.
